OMBAC DIV I smashes Back Bay, but DIV III loses to Beaumont

OMBAC's Division 1 Rugby Side outplayed Back Bay for a score of 72 to 12 on Saturday with exceptional show of dominant rugby play by OMBAC's forwards and OMBAC's amazing kicker.  Back Bay's only first half try was scored on a break-away when one of Back Bay's centers managed to penetrate OMBACs backline for a take-away grab and a sprint to the try zone.  While an exciting moment of individual play, the rest of the game was characterized by powerful rugby from OMBAC's forwards that resulted in many pushover tries.   OMBAC's kicker scored on 8 "conversions" after the try and 2 penalty kicks.  While OMBAC's backline always looked ready to perform, all of their players seemed determined to constantly pull the ball back into forward play rather than spinning it down the backline.

Relative newcomers Beaumont RFC came away with a 16-6 victory over OMBAC's Division III side.  In a game largely decided on penalty kicks with the only try scored by Beaumont in the 2nd half, OMBAC was never able to break through Beaumont's defenses.  It was a well-matched game with OMBAC constantly knocking on the door to score points but missing the opportunities in the final yards.

First Blog on San Diego Rugby Football

I am interested in creating a central location on the internet where San Diego rugby players, coaches, officials and fans can go to find information on: 1) games scheduled in the local area, 2) teams currently operating in the local area including all of San Diego County, 3) opportunities to join teams as a player or part of the support staff such as trainers, coaches, supporting club members, etc., 4) away games scheduled by local clubs so fans know where and when to go to see their favorite teams at away events and 5) any and all ideas for improving the level of rugby play and the rugby culture in the San Diego area. I would also like to create a central location for posting news about local rugby, photos of local teams, contact information for local teams and any other local rugby related media. I also hope to provide links for local rugby teams and organizations web-sites.
